We are not professionals nor experts in Euphorbiaceae taxonomy. Any help with ID and spelling are always welcome. To up-date my list I've been using many books, journals, catalogs and other web-sites. It's been helpful, but I have more work to do. I only ship to the main 48 States. We do offer 72+ hour heat packs for $4.00 each. Please read the front page for ordering information.

Euphorbia lambii lg -
This succulent tree looks like something that came straight out of a Dr. Seuss
book! It has a thick gray colored main trunk and large wide spreading leafless
lower stems from which erect thick branches arise capped with a pompom cluster
of 6 inch long yellowish-green to blue green leaves. In spring it displays 6
inch wide bunches of showy circular greenish-yellow cupped bracts that are held
above the foliage and hold the small green flowers. This plant sometimes has
stems that spontaneously crest (also called fasciation) with the fan of leaves
spreading out along a broadly horizontal stem tip. Euphorbia lambii comes from
the island of Gomera in the Canary Islands where it grows in the forest margins
of the northwest and central areas of the island from 2,000 to 2,600 feet in
elevation and is considered rare in habitat. The name for the genus is derived
from Euphorbus, the Greek physician of King Juba II of Numidia and later of
Mauritania. In 12 B.C. King Juba named a cactus-like plant he found in the Atlas
Mountains after his physician and later Carl Linnaeus assigned the name
Euphorbia to the entire genus. The specific epithet honoring British nurseryman
Edgar Lamb (1905-1980) was given to this plant in 1960 by the Swedish born
Canary Island botanist Eric Sventenius. More recent phylogenetic work has
determined that this name should be synonymous with a smaller growing plant also
found on the island of Gomera, Euphorbia bourgaeana, and the name Euphorbia
lambiorum is also sometimes used. We have continually grown this plant at the
nursery since 1994 and continue to call it Euphorbia lambii until such time as
Euphorbia bourgaeana becomes more commonly used. Seed grown. Growing in 4 1/2" pots. 3 in stock @ $25.00 each.

Is
a fleshy succulent plant with weird flattened mottled red-brown stems radiating
from a raiseable heavy rootstock... nothing green about it. The branches are
very interesting, unique, ugly, with an irregular scab like texture, and look
dead, or at the very least zombified. These branches are splayed out with
fingers dangling like dead weights. Truly an oddity, this is a plant only an
enthusiast can love... looks like it's dead all the time and so pathetic looking
it makes many people laugh when they first see it. Actually, this is a very
interesting collector's succulent plant when grown into a specimen which does
not take too long. The flowers almost blend into the dead-looking color of the

Monadenium rubellum sm - Is
an odd caudiciform plant with dainty branched stems looking like a colony of
twisting, light-green snakes and succulent lancelet leaves dappled in purple.
This perennial, succulent herb is interesting not only because of its ‘round
foot’, but also because it flowers pretty much year around, and doesn't seem to
need a dormant period. This ‘round foot’ is where it stores its water reserves
that are its stock for dry periods. Tuberous, swollen, semi-woody, single
turbinate or obovoid, more often quite free-formed with multiple sections, about
8 cm long and 1.5 cm across. In habitat the fat rootstock grows buried in the
ground, but in cultivation, once the tuberous roots develop, the plant is lifted
above soil level and replanted with roots exposed making a very showy
bonsai-like specimen. Growing in 2 1/2" pots. 7 in stock @ $25.00 each.
